Nancy White began as director of the Coastal Studies Institute in July of 2003. Prior to this, she served as Director of Research, Extension and Sponsored Programs and Research Associate Professor at North Carolina State University ‘s College of Design , where she published over 20 peer-reviewed scientific papers. She lectures on designing for water quality nationally and internationally.
Nancy serves on a wide array of committees, boards and review panels, including the DENR Division of Land Quality’s Technical Advisory Committee, WRRI Technical Advisory Committee, APNEP Advisory Board-Co Chair, Marine Sciences Advisory Council, the Kitty Hawk Town Planning Board, The Outer Banks Hotline Board of Directors.
Principal Investigator – Monitoring and TMDL modeling techniques to assess bacterial loading in estuarine environments and to improve shellfish management programs, 2001-2008. Phase 1 Funded by USDA-CSREES Integrated Water Quality Research and Education Program, $306,000, Phase 2, $550,000.
