Hayley Grabner joined the Coastal Studies Institute in March of 2018. Prior to this role, Hayley served as the Stormwater Education & Outreach Intern for the City of Wilmington while completing her graduate studies. Hayley has worked in Environmental Education in various capacities on and off the Outer Banks, ranging from field-based earth science to adventure recreation.

Hayley supports the implementation and development of K-12 programs, summer camps, and community outreach events. She also generates web and social media content that helps to communicate the research and happenings of CSI to the public. While supporting the K-12 and continued education programs at CSI, Hayley is particularly interested in making sound science accessible to a demographically and geographically broad audience, and encouraging the public to engage with their local environmental science, policy, and management.
Although the NC coast is happily considered home, Hayley spends much of her free time dreaming up and carrying out trips to the mountains. Favorite outdoor activities include rock climbing, ultimate frisbee, surfing, and learning. Her favorite indoor activity is cooking.
