Join us for the March 2024 installment of the “Science on the Sound” Lecture Series at the Coastal Studies Institute on the ECU Outer Banks Campus. This monthly, in-person lecture series brings perspectives from all over the state and highlights coastal topics in northeastern North Carolina. This month, Erin Fleckenstein, Oyster Program Director at the North Carolina Coastal Federation will present “Shells of Success: Recent Accomplishments through the NC Oyster Blueprint” on March 21, 2024, at 6:00 PM.
The NC Oyster Blueprint is a road map for the protection, restoration, harvest and education about oysters in our state. It combines the goals of nearly 30 partners including researchers, state and federal agencies, non profits, oyster harvesters and growers, formal and informal educators and many others. Erin Fleckenstein coordinates the Blueprint’s implementation. Her presentation will provide a brief overview of the Blueprint and highlight some of the recent accomplishments. If you love oysters and want to know more about what’s happening to support these important bivalves in the state, this is a presentation you don’t want to miss.
The program is free and the public is encouraged to attend. It will also be live-streamed on the CSI YouTube channel for those unable to make it in person.
